PHCCIMA AND PORT HARCOURT POLO CLUB AGREE TO COLLABORATE ON STRATEGIC PROGRAMMES

PHCCIMA President, Eze, Sir Mike Elechi led the Chamber Exco members on a courtesy visit to the President and Exco members of Port Harcourt Polo Club in Port Harcourt at the eve of the weekend as both organizations agreed to collaborate on strategic programmes that will be profitable and put the interests of both organizations on higher pedestrian of sustainable development.

The President of Port Harcourt Polo Club, Engr. Dr. Chukwudi Dimkpa in his welcome address described the club as a sports club that is equipped with all facilities that promote healthy sports activities and well being of its members. The Polo Club President said that the Club's 50th anniversary  celebration held in January this year was very  successful, he asserted that when sports and business join together it will climax to healthy growth and development of the Port Harcourt City and called for synergy between the two eminent organisations. PHCCIMA President while stating the purpose of the visit congratulated Polo Club for a successful 50th anniversary celebration, and expressed his confidence as the 62nd President of the PHCCIMA that he will establish a long lasting relationship between both organizations that will result to members of the Chamber enrolling as Polo Club members and Polo Club members registering as PHCCIMA members noting that the Chamber been established more than ten years before the Polo Club is ready to play the fatherly role in ensuring that the sports club is supported by the premier Chamber of Commerce in the region to actualise the vision of the founding fathers of the State in establishing both organizations and promised to work in synergy with the club. Eze Elechi told the Polo Club Management team that one of the purpose of his visit was also to inform them that the annual Port Harcourt International Trade Fair has been approved and given an International Trade Fair status, and while the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment prepare to commence construction of the newly approved International Trade Fair Building Complex in Port Harcourt, the Chamber has chosen the Polo Club as one of the venue options for its annual International Trade Fairs until the complex is completed. He called for a well structured collaboration between both organizations for successful hosting of the annual Trade Fairs and other Exhibitions in the State thereby jointly contributing positively to the socioeconomic development of the State. The Polo Club President in affirmation with his Management team accepted the Chamber President's request for collaboration and assured him and his Exco that Polo Club was ready to collaborate with the Chamber as his request was in agreement with the Polo  Club's current drive. He informed the Chamber President that Polo Club is organising  a mini polo tournament and trade exhibition during the forthcoming Easter season in partnership with 95.1FM Radio station,   hosting the Nigerian Navy Week early June this year and their regular Fridays evening shows, and invited Chamber President and members to the various outlined events. PHCCIMA President presented the Chamber membership marketing flyers and a souvenir to the President of Polo Club, and the President of Polo Club handed over some of their club membership forms to the Chamber President. Other Exco members who joined the President to the courtesy visit are; the 2nd Deputy President, Hon. Prince Charles Beke, Treasurer, Surveyor Emmanuel Ogbonda, Financial Secretary, Sir Dan Harrison,  Chairman of Economic & Commercial Trade Group, Dr. Maraizu Uche, Chairman of Power & Energy Trade Group, Engr. Tony Nwogbo, Chairman of ICT & Commerce Trade Group, Engr. Owunari Batubo and Director General, Mr. Erasmus Chukunda as shown in the photo gallery above.
