MINISTRY OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY PLAY HOST PHCCIMA…. AS PRESIDENT PROMISES COLLABORATION
The President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture PHCCIMA, Eze, Sir Mike Elechi, JP has said that the Chamber under his watch will do all within it's reach to promote business activities in Rivers State.
He made the statement when he
led a delegation of PHCCIMA Exco and Council members on a courtesy visit to the
Rivers State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, acknowledging that Rivers State
Government has created enabling environment for Business activities to thrive
hence the readiness of the Chamber to lead investors for job creation among
other things.
Eze Elechi maintained that the visit was to familiarize and intimate the
ministry of the persons at the helms of affairs of the Chamber with the aims of
promoting and adding value to the good legacies of the present Administration
in the state.
The PHCCIMA President who doubles
as the CEO of Vintage farms and Products Ltd also hinted that his team has plan
to create a data bank of SMEs in Rivers State, get them registered so as to
access loans through micro finance bank, positing that when achieved, the
Ministry and PHCCIMA will serve as gaurantors as obtainable in other part of
the country, lamenting that a lot of things were eluding Rivers State in
the past hence the duty of PHCCIMA to breach the gap.
Eze Elechi reassured the ministry that PHCCIMA has already began preparation
for the 2022 International Trade Fair with the view of showcasing Rivers State
to the International Community as the business hub of the nation. The PHCCIMA
President further hinted other plans to meet with stakeholders at the local
government level with the view to identifying the bonds and the resources
domicile within their locality, revealing that such identified resources will
be uploaded to a designated website which will be available for people to
access from any part of the world. Responding on behalf of the Ministry, the
Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Dr. Mrs. Ifeyinwa
Nwankpa thanked the PHCCIMA team to have identified firstly with the Ministry
describing PHCCIMA as the heart beat of the Ministry and expressed the hope
that the new team of PHCCIMA will revive the industry.
She maintained that as a Ministry they are putting together a program called
Covid-19 Action Recovery in collaborate with Bank of Industry where good number
of SMEs in the state will benefit, believing that SMEs constitutes the greater
percentage of the state workforce.
The Commissioner called for partnership with the PHCCIMA in initiating programs
that will keep the ministry alive just as she mentioned the relunching of
yellow page while waiting official event that requires government approval. While
congratulating PHCCIMA President and his team on their electioneering victory,
she pleaded with the President to carry everyone along just as she pledged the
Ministry's support to the new face of PHCCIMA.
Those on the entourage of the PHCCIMA President
includes Hon. Prince Charles Beke the 2nd Deputy President, Mr. Uche Onochie
Publicity Secretary, Chief Engr. Godwin Etim Members Welfare Secretary, Mrs.
Edughom Hanson Chairman SMEs and NGOs Trade Group, Dr. Maraizu Uche Chairman
Economic and Commercial Trade Group and Mr. Erasmus Chukunda the Director
General. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Mr. Lawson Ikuru, HOD Commerce
Mr. Emmanuel Nwankwo, HOD SMEs Mrs. Amiye Sala, HOD Industry Mr. I. D. Erekosima
and the Ministry Press Officer joined the Commissioner to receive the PHCCIMA
team.
